Sample table with decorated table top. Polished wood is impregnated with protective resins and coated with clear varnish.
Wooden chairs are comfortable and practical. They have an infinite number of models.
They are made by approximately the same technology and differ only in shape and finish.
Hila Shamia from Israel is not only a brilliant artist, but also the inventor of new technologies and methods of making furniture. In her workshop there is a whole team of workers who create tables and chairs using a unique method.
But these are not joiners and not artists, but casters.
This is a bar stool and a stool made from a single log method invented by the artist. The seats are made of one piece of the trunk, cut in half lengthwise.
The legs are cast with a metallic sheen, as this is brushed aluminum.
Transitions and fixtures are uneven. But in the naturalness of the upper part of the furniture there is no doubt.
As decoration serves natural drawing of wood and its color.
Coffee table on the background of equipment. Now it becomes clear where the black line of burnt wood appeared from the transition line.
After all, this is a foundry with a small smelting furnace.
This picture clearly shows all the secrets of furniture manufacturing technology. Molten aluminum is poured into the prepared massive bar.
From contact with hot metal, wood begins to burn, and black stripes are formed.
Duralumin alloy fills all pores and cracks, creating a strong bond. Selling chairs is active.
People are interested in items from natural materials, and even unique ones.
For the manufacture of their products, Hill uses cypress and eucalyptus, which withstand contact with fire better than other wood species, since they do not contain combustible resins. The number of knots is small and they have a dense structure, few cracks and no porosity. The barrel section shows the original pronounced pattern.
Rich color palette.
Coffee tables and bar stools differ in length and height of the legs. The width of all products is the same, based on the size of the log and the type of equipment.
This is clearly seen in the photo.
The wooden seat of the stool seems to lie in a semicircular bed of metal. Bright stripes are visible that fill the cracks and create a strong bond.
Separate the two materials without destruction is impossible.
Annual rings create a clear brown pattern over a light dairy background. Gray spots remained from hot splashes. All this in a black border is surrounded by a silvery gloss of metal.
The wooden chair is made in avant-garde styles and industrial unique and environmentally friendly.
Before you furniture shop. A somewhat unusual sight.
The right of the picture captures the moment of the metal spill on the prepared forms. The wooden bar is laid below. A mold of refractory molding sand is installed on it.
Its emptiness is made in the shape of legs. When pouring aluminum spreads down the log, burning it and filling the voids.
After that, the cavity is filled in the upper flask and the leg shape given by the casters is formed.
On the right is already cooled and inverted molding unit. When the metal is completely cooled and becomes solid throughout the cross section, the metal boxes will be disassembled, the mixture will be sprinkled, and the surface of the metal will be brushed off with a polishing machine and will become shiny.
On each wooden chair, a 4-sprue is installed on top for pouring each support separately. The law of connecting vessels in this case does not work, because the metal has a low fluidity and cools quickly around the edges, forming a crust.
This table is almost ready. Now you can decorate it a little more, pour aluminum into the upper cracks and then polish it.
To do this, you do not need to make a form, just lean the plate tightly against the end to limit the flow of the metal.
On this sample, the author’s furniture used metal brushing to give the wood a volume and soaked it with opaque translucent wax.
